Home service companies have more content than they think. Every job has a before and after. Every phone call has a question someone else is also searching for. The hard part isn't ideas, it's turning phone clips into something you can post.
Here are twelve video ideas that come straight from work you already do. All of them can be filmed on a phone.
From the job site
- Before and after. The simplest video that works. Ten seconds of the problem, ten of the fix.
- Job walkthrough. Walk through a typical job in under a minute, so customers know what to expect when you show up.
- Meet the technician. People want to know who's coming into their home. A short intro builds trust before the doorbell rings.
- The weird find. The strangest thing you found in a duct, drain or panel this month. These get shared.
From the questions you answer every day
- Signs you need a repair. "Three signs your water heater is about to fail" answers a question people search before they call.
- Common-problem explainers. Why a breaker keeps tripping, why a drain keeps clogging. Plain language, no jargon.
- What's safe to do yourself, and when to call. Being honest about small fixes earns trust for the big ones. For electrical work, this is also a safety message.
- What's included. For cleaning and maintenance plans, a walkthrough of exactly what customers get removes the top reason people hesitate.
- Emergency what-to-do guides. Where the water shut-off is, what to do when the AC quits in July. Useful at the exact moment someone needs you.
From the calendar
- Seasonal maintenance tips. Before summer and winter, a quick tune-up checklist. Post the same topics every year, updated.
- Seasonal promos. Tie your offer to the tip: here's what to check, and here's how to book us to do it.
- Customer testimonials. A happy customer saying it in their own words, filmed with their written consent, beats any ad you could write.
How to keep it going
The trouble is never the first three videos. It's the next thirty. A simple routine helps: techs grab short clips on the job, someone records a few common questions once a month, and each recording gets turned into a video, clips for Shorts and Reels, an answer page on your website and a follow-up email.
Answer pages matter more than they used to. When someone asks Google or an AI assistant "why is my AC blowing warm air," a clear written answer on your site is what gets you mentioned. More on that in how to show up when customers ask AI.
